So, last night was the Texas Democratic Presidential Debate. I must say that I am quite impressed with Obama. I think that he would be a fine President. Not saying that Clinton wouldn't be, but I think that Obama would do a better job. He has this natural capacity to inspire people to come together, and this is what the UNITED States need. Clinton to me, seems like she is too rehearsed. There is nothing wrong with preparation, but she is more than prepared. This is not an acting gig, where everything goes according to plan. One needs to be ready for the unexpected, and I think this is where Obama's natural strength lies. He has experience in working with the disenfranchised in the city of Chicago. He has worked with ordinary folk and has managed to organize them; and that is in result of his ability to inspire change. My Constitutional Law Professor is always complaining about how unmotivated us college students are. How complacent we have become. Bush has done countless things that not only infringes upon our civil liberties, but also that are blatantly unconstitutional. And here we sit, behind our ipods, computers and cell phones, and do nothing. There is power in the strength of numbers. There is power in someone who has the capacity to inspire to lead and organize. And these are the things that Barack Obama stands for. And not only does he stand for these things, he inspires us to become involved. He believes that government corruption can be monitored and stopped. This is what democracy is suppose to be about. We should know exactly what is going on with our political leaders and representatives, I mean they are our deciding fate. This is what John Locke stood for when he wrote Common Sense, and yet, these principle ideas and teachings are just theories we have come to know, but not accept. Barack is our hope. Our hope to change what is wrong with America: the complacency of citizens who do not believe in their government.
Barack also understands that in order to restore faith in American Democracy, special interest groups need to be put to rest. Democracy should be about the people, not a group is who interested in the growth of their own particular cause.
I think that Democratic America, loves Barack Obama because he talks plain and understands plainly why America has been so unsuccessful in inspiring REAL CHANGE. YES WE CAN!!!
The debate will air again this Saturday at 8pm (Eastern Time) on CNN
